iClock FAQ
Q: I have a problem with iClock...
A: No matter what the problem is the steps to fix it are.....
1. Click once on iClock in your menubar, a menu will come down and you will choose 'Help' then 'Quit'.
2. Use 'Find' file for iclock and drag it to the trash.
3. Download it again from our site: http://www.scriptsoftware.com/
4. (optional) Enter your registration details (name and reg code).
Q:Does iClock support the new daylight saving time in Canada and USA?
A: Yes, iClock uses the built-in time zone information supplied by Apple's update for MacOS X 10.3.9 and MacOS X 10.4.8.
The Daylight Saving Time Update for Mac OS X and Mac OS X Server addresses recent changes in the way Daylight Saving Time will be observed in the U.S. and Canada beginning in March 2007 and includes the latest time zone information for the rest of the world.
Q: How do I quit iClock
A: Go to the help menu in iClock and to the Quit item. Then you can move the iClock folder in the application folder to the desktop. Next time you restart you can then delete it.
The reason it is like this is because iClock maintains an open file even though it has been quit.
Q: I have Mac OS 10.4. What version of iClock should I use?

Q: When I first downloaded and installed iClock2, I had a group of sounds available to iClock2, including bell tower. These sounds have now disappeared for some reason. How do I get them back?
A: iClock lists sounds found in iMovie and the System. If you move or delete iMovie you will not have access to these sounds. BellTowers is one of iMovies standard sound effects.
Q: I can not assign a hot key to the calendar.
A:
1. Hot keys must NOT conflict with the active application.
2. The hot key must have the command key in it.
3. Hot keys are disabled if iClock is not registered.
Q: How do I get to the Stocks menu?
A: Hold down the option key and click on the menubar to see the new Stocks menu. Choose the Edit Stock Portfolio to open and manage your stock portfolio.
Q: Can i move iClock like Apple's clock in the menubar?
A: Yes, you can with version 1.23 or higher. Just hold the command key down and click and drag to a new location. Feel free to drag the application menu to the far right and put iClock next to it.
Q: I can't move iClock in the menubar?
A: You are running a version older then 1.23. Download the latest version and install it.
Q:Why does iClock preferences open up on startup automatically?
A: When you upgraded from V1.0/V1.1x to V1.2/1.30 the login items was
not removed. A reference to iClock still active and when you login it
opens the preferences. V1.3 installer removed it, if you installed
iClock the same location.
To fix the problem, go to the System Preferences then do the following.
In Mac OS X 10.2.x:
2a. Select Login Items
3a. Remove iClock from the list of login items
In Mac OS X 10.3.x:
2b. Select Accounts
3b. Select Startup Items
4b. Remove iClock from the list of login items
Q: I downloaded 1.23 but in the preference panel it says version 1.5?
A: You have more then one copy of iClock on your disk and quite old at that. Use find file for iClock and drag everything to the trash. Download and install the latest version.
Q: What is the network activity when i start iClock?
A: If you have 'Show Net Info' on in the preferences then iClock checks to get your IP address to show you when you hold the cursor over the clock (tool tip info).
Q: I have 10ForX from Aladdin and want to get the regular iClock. How do I do this?

Q: I have MacLink from DataViz and want to get the regular iClock. How do I do this?

Q: I bought MacLink 14 from DataViz and iClock was part of the update. How do i register it?
A: Use the installer for iClock that came from DataViz with MacLink 14. After using the installer iClock is registered. To confirm you are registered, look in the iClock menu and you will see "Registered to: MLP Version 14". You can ignore the register tab in the iClock preferences. This is for people who have not purchased MLP Version 14 upgrade. With this you are registered for future minor upgrades of iClock. When new versions are available download them from our site replace the older version of iClock and it will still be registered.
Panther installation removes the maclink registration so you need
the new version of iclock just for panther.
first download the latest installer just for maclink users.
look for the link for the maclink bundle on this page:

you will need to insert the maclink cd you got from dataviz.
or the download from dataviz which is a diskimage needs to be mounted.
then
run the installer you downloaded. thats it!
Q: How do I add a new location or change an existing one?
A: Open up the iClock preferences and the Locations tab click the add button. Clicking the country drop down menu is usually the fastest way to add a new city.
Q: Why does it disappear with some applications?
A: This happens if you have a small display or the application you are in has many menus. Then there is not enough space for iClocks menus. Command-dragging off the menubar any of Apple's menu items will remove the ones you don't use and free up some room. Changing the formatting (small font, less info) in iClock will also give you more room.
Q: How do I remove Apple's clock?
A: Command drag off the menubar any of Apple's clock menu item will remove them. They can also be put back in the menubar from the Date and Time panel in the System Preferences.
Q: How do I change settings for my desktop effect?
A: Open the Screen Effect panel in the System Preferences, select the effect in the list. then press customize.
Q: How do I set appointments in the calendar?
A: iClock is not a full blown calendar program but iClock's calendar is much quicker to open and it can open your main calendar/appointment calendar. Go to iClocks Calendar preferences and use the 'open with' to choose Apple's full featured calendar program iCal , Now-Up-To-Date, MS Entourage, or Meeting Maker.
Q: Does iClock have any keyboard short cuts?
A: Yes, they are active only then iClock window is the active window (selected). They include F10, F11 for Miniaturize and closing windows. Summary of Keyboard and Mouse shortcuts
Q: Is it possible to add custom sounds?
A: iYes; you may add custom private sounds in the user's sounds directory (~/Library/Sounds). If one does not exist, simply create a new directory and name it Sounds. You may also add custom sounds to the /Library/Sounds directory. Modifying the /System/Library/Sounds directory is NOT recommended.
Q: My system menus is changed after iClock starts up.
A: The order is controlled by the order in which they are launched (except for Apple's Menu Bar items).
Q: Does the clock keep time based on the computer's battery, or can it update time dynamically from an external time server the way the Apple clock can?
A: The network sync that Apple utlilizes is also used by iClock . If you do NOT turn off Apple's Network Time Server in the Date & Time panel, your iClock date and time will be synchronized with Apple's external time server.
Q: Do you have any plans to include an option for a 24-hour clock. It could hardly be an "international" timing device without it.
A: iClock already has support for 24- and 12-hour time display. Select the format in preferences for the Menu Bar and Menu Item's locations using the Time Format popup menu independently. One section is listed for 12 hours and below that another for 24 hours.
